The Leonarda lavender terracotta tile is made and hand-painted in a Southern Italian artisan studio, with shades of white decorating a lavender background. The ground and terracotta body are deliberately and delicately aged, making every tile visibly individual. De Ferranti records the four-tile pattern as Sicilian in origin and 18th century in character.

Soft Colour in the Leonarda Lavender Terracotta Tile

Lavender gives the ornate repeat a quieter, more atmospheric quality than stronger blue, green or red colourways. Pale floral and geometric forms extend across the joints of four tiles to build a symmetrical composition. Slight changes in the coloured field, brushwork and softened edges keep the finished surface connected to handmade ceramic practice.

Lucia Lavender and White offers a more fluid pattern in the same colour family, while Leonarda Black and White reveals the structure of the repeat through sharper contrast. Elsewhere at De Ferranti, Neisha Crosland's Frieda in Powdery Bluebell provides another muted decorative terracotta surface, and Stella di Thera Rosa introduces a complementary matt ceramic tone for adjacent areas.

Specifying an Aged Lavender Repeat

The lavender and off-white palette can suit bathrooms, dressing areas, bedrooms, kitchens, fireplace surrounds, staircases and hospitality interiors where pattern should remain refined rather than dominant. Selected warm-climate exterior use may be considered subject to specification. The four-tile motif should be reviewed as a complete panel, with grout width and orientation agreed before installation. Samples allow the aged lavender ground to be assessed against plaster, pale stone, timber, metals and textiles in the intended light. Confirm format, thickness and installation requirements for the individual project before ordering.
