Anel is a sandstone lapis basin carved from beige sandstone, with a narrow exterior waterline of lapis lazuli forming the defining ring around the bowl. The original choice of sandstone was deliberate: its open-grained, softly textured surface contrasts with the harder, saturated blue stone of the lapis ring, or anel. The result is simple in outline but richly material, suitable for both traditional and contemporary bathrooms. De Ferranti basins are also available to special commission.

Sandstone Lapis Basin and Material Contrast

The first gallery view shows the broad, shallow bowl against a dark background, allowing the pale stone and continuous blue band to read with particular clarity. A closer view reveals the fine horizontal tooling and grain of the sandstone, while the lapis lazuli line provides a precise change in colour and surface character. The blue detail also continues at the base, visually anchoring the rounded form.
