The Leamington is a marble mother of pearl basin hand-carved from pure white marble and finished with a narrow shell mosaic waterline around its exterior. The soft, rounded bowl has a quiet stone presence, while the Mother of Pearl band introduces a changing iridescent detail that becomes more apparent as light moves across the vanity.
The basin balances substantial carved stone with a much finer decorative insert. Its white marble body is shaped into a generous bowl with a broad rim and small pedestal base. Around the outer face, the continuous Mother of Pearl mosaic reads as a jewellery-like line rather than a large patterned field. The first gallery image shows the basin installed on a veined marble vanity, while the second moves closer to the shell band and the softly textured white stone.
De Ferranti’s Shells & Mother of Pearl collection explores the changing iridescence of shell across mosaics and other surfaces. Within the basin collection, Anel uses a lapis lazuli band to create a stronger blue waterline, while the Gemstone Micromosaic Basin brings inlay across the complete bowl.
The marble mother of pearl basin is made to order, with marble selection, proportions and Mother of Pearl tone adjustable to suit the scheme. For specification, coordinate the basin with the supporting vanity, wall surface, tap reach and waste position. Reviewing shell and marble together is particularly useful because their response to light and natural variation form an important part of the finished composition. The understated colour palette makes the basin suitable for schemes where texture and reflected light are more important than strong contrast, while the shell line remains distinctly visible.
