Victor Art Nouveau Tile

The Victor Art Nouveau tile forms part of De Ferranti’s Art Nouveau Collection of handpainted ceramic panels.

In the spirit of reviving historical decorative movements, our Art Nouveau Collection comprises 8 handpainted 49 cm square ceramic panels of sixteen 11cm square tiles in vivid shades or orange, yellow and green.

Victor Art Nouveau Tile Design

Victor is distinguished by broad, deep green brushwork set against a clear white ground. On the individual tile, pointed leaves, hooked stems and sweeping foliate forms overlap and change direction across the surface. Slight variations in colour density, line and painted edge retain the character of the hand rather than the regularity of a mechanically printed pattern.

When sixteen tiles are assembled, the separate shapes connect across the joints to create a strongly symmetrical repeat. Mirrored foliage gathers into central motifs, while the white areas form narrow channels that divide and sharpen the darker green composition. The near-monochrome palette gives Victor a bolder and more graphic presence than the more polychromatic designs within the collection.

The name Victor naturally recalls Victor Horta, one of the earliest initiators of Art Nouveau. His Brussels town houses are recognised for uniting curved decorative lines with the structure and surfaces of the building. Victor does not reproduce a particular Horta design, but its continuous foliage and integrated repeat reflect the period’s ambition to make ornament part of the complete interior.

Hand-Painted Green Ceramic Panel

The Victor Art Nouveau tile is intended for decorative internal wall applications, including bathrooms, residential interiors, restaurants and commercial settings. It can be presented as a framed panel, repeated across a broader feature wall or coordinated with plain tiles, pale plaster, timber and complementary natural materials.

As the complete composition is created from sixteen individual tiles, the sequence and orientation should be checked before installation. A dry layout or project mock-up can confirm the continuity of the foliage, overall panel dimensions, joint spacing, grout colour and relationship with adjoining surfaces.

Explore the wider Art Nouveau collection and compare Victor with the flowing ochre forms of Bohemia, the linear composition of Fitzrovia and the botanical medallions of Mucha. The broader Ceramics – All Disciplines category brings together further patterned, relief, lustred and historically informed ceramic surfaces.
