The Mucha Art Nouveau tile forms part of De Ferranti’s Art Nouveau Collection of handpainted ceramic panels.

In the spirit of reviving historical decorative movements, our Art Nouveau Collection comprises 8 handpainted 49 cm square ceramic panels of sixteen 11cm square tiles in vivid shades or orange, yellow and green.

Mucha Art Nouveau Tile Design

Mucha is organised within a bold circular frame, combining dark green tendrils, paler green bands and a warm golden ground. An orange flower bud extends into the lower part of the composition, while black outlines define the changing direction and weight of each botanical form. Subtle variation in the painted colour and fine crackle across the lighter surface preserve the character of the ceramic finish.

The design is complete within each individual tile, yet becomes more rhythmic when repeated. Across the assembled panel, the circular medallions form an ordered grid while the enclosed stems and foliage retain their own sense of movement. This balance between repetition and flowing natural form allows the pattern to feel structured without losing its decorative energy.

The name refers to Alphonse Mucha, whose posters and illustrations became closely associated with the ornamental language of Art Nouveau. Mucha’s work frequently combined curved botanical lines, framed figures and carefully controlled decorative borders. This tile translates that visual vocabulary into a ceramic composition through its circular cartouche, sinuous stems and stylised flower.
