Reef Patina MX414 is a highly variegated blue-green reactive glaze inspired by tropical waters, oxidised metals and the extraordinary colours found within coral reef ecosystems. Rich in movement and natural variation, it brings a vibrant and organic character to handmade ceramic surfaces.

Part of The Blues - Textures Collection, Reef Patina MX414 has been developed through the collaboration between De Ferranti and AAA - Alvaro Afonso Atelier. The collection explores the relationship between texture, glaze and light, producing surfaces that feel both artisanal and architecturally sophisticated.

To maximise surface movement and visual depth, the glaze is applied to the reverse face of the tile. This process creates a more textured finish, allowing the glaze to break, pool and crystallise in unexpected ways. The resulting surface captures and reflects light differently throughout the day, creating a constantly changing interplay of colour, texture and shadow.

Layers of turquoise , teal, verdigris and mineral blue interact across the surface, creating remarkable depth and complexity. The reactive nature of the glaze means each firing produces subtle differences in tone, pattern and crystalline formation, making every tile unique.

Reef Patina MX414 is particularly suited to Swimming Pools, Spa Areas, Bathrooms, Garden Rooms, Courtyards, Water Features, Feature Walls and Hospitality Interiors where its aquatic character can be fully appreciated.
