Young Flattened Bamboo
A pale, sun-warmed bamboo surface made from young flattened canes, laid in vertical runs to create a calm, reed-like texture with the quiet authenticity of woven wall craft.

Young Flattened Bamboo is composed from slender bamboo elements that have been flattened and set in tight vertical alignment, allowing the natural node marks and fine linear grain to read as the design. The tone sits in light straw and sand, with occasional honeyed variation and darker markings at the bamboo joints, giving the surface an honest, organic rhythm.

The texture is low-relief but strongly directional, so it performs beautifully with grazing light, which picks up the fine ridges and subtle shadow lines. It works best on vertical applications such as feature walls, ceiling accents, alcoves, joinery cladding, bar fronts, and decorative panels where warmth and tactility are desired without heavy pattern.

Straw marquetry use was pioneered by Jean-Michel Frank for interiors, architectural finishes and furniture.
