Young Bamboo Basket Weave – light tobacco wash
A woven timber surface that plays with direction and shadow, alternating grain like a hand-laid textile, bringing warmth and graphic structure in one move.

Wood Basket Weave is a modular wood formed from linear timber strips arranged in a classic basket weave repeat. Each square block runs in a single direction, then alternates at 90 degrees, creating a disciplined chequer of horizontal and vertical “weaves” that reads architectural from a distance and richly tactile up close.

The surface shows strong grain and natural variation, with deeper brown and smoked tones sitting alongside lighter highlights along the ridges. Subtle irregularities and occasional knots add to the handcrafted feel, while the directional texture catches light differently across each module, giving the wall movement without relying on colour.

Best used on vertical surfaces: feature walls, alcoves, joinery cladding, bar fronts, reception desks, and headboards. Install with consistent orientation to keep the weave crisp, or rotate selected modules for a more artisanal, patchwork effect. Specify for dry interior environments, and agree a protective finish if used in higher-contact areas to help with cleaning and long-term stability.

Straw marquetry use was pioneered by Jean-Michel Frank for interiors, architectural finishes and furniture.
