Coconut Twig Weave – Textured Panel
This Coconut Twig Weave design reinterprets traditional Asian basketry into a structured surface, where alternating directional squares create a rhythmic woven effect across the panel. The natural striping of the coconut twig produces a striking zebra-like contrast of deep espresso and warm tones, enhanced by the subtle relief created through sanding.

Old coconut twigs are sun dried, treated for pest resistance, and carefully cut into uniform segments. Each piece is hand inlaid onto a stable substrate using adhesive, then disc sanded to refine the surface while preserving its rustic texture and organic grain movement.

The alternating orientation of each square creates visual movement and depth, giving the panel a tactile quality that shifts under changing light. The result is a sustainable, eco-conscious surface that feels both tribal and architectural.
