Neisha Crosland
Bamboo Serpent – Black Grout
This sculptural bamboo panel embraces the natural curvature of the pole, forming interwoven serpent-like rhythms across the surface. The dark grout intensifies the pattern, emphasising shadow, relief and movement.

Fresh bamboo poles are sun-dried, pest-treated and crushed, retaining their inherent roundness and organic curvature. The segments are arranged in layered, swirling formations that resemble coiled serpents, then secured to a substrate using adhesive and mechanical fastening.

Black grout is applied before grinding, creating pronounced shadow lines that heighten depth and texture. The result is a bold, tactile surface where craft meets sculptural expression, combining the warmth of natural bamboo with strong graphic definition.

Supplied in its natural tone, the panel can also be stained or dyed to achieve bespoke finishes.
