Quarried in Sardinia, this lava stone sits in the fired-earth register: dusty rose, burnt clay and iron-brown notes with small flecks and occasional pinholes that keep the surface honest and tactile. Over time, iron-rich volcanic stones tend to oxidise and warm in colour, developing the kind of lived-in people associate with terracotta.
Available in slab and tile, Rosato di Sardegna is also suitable in block form for bespoke carving and architectural elements, including mouldings, thresholds, fireplace details and special commissions. As a natural material, expect variation in tone, density and marking from piece to piece.
