Each module is hand-carved and assembled from carefully selected stones of differing tones and densities. Warm honey and hues form the raised, faceted stars, while deep blue-green stone provides a rich, shadowed backdrop that intensifies the three-dimensional effect. At the heart of each star, a contrasting cabochon-like insert introduces a bold red accent, anchoring the geometry and adding visual depth.
The crisp, angular carving is softened through finishing techniques that enhance the stone’s natural character. Edges are refined by hand, allowing subtle undulations and micro-variations to remain, so the surface feels alive rather than mechanically cut. Light glances across the angled planes, creating highlights on the polished facets and deeper tonal pools within the recessed sections.
This interplay between matt and polished finishes, between warm and cool stones, exemplifies De Ferranti’s approach to Stone Textures: texture not as surface treatment alone, but as architecture within the material itself.
As with all of our textured stone pieces, each panel is individually assembled and finished by hand, ensuring slight variations that enhance its artisanal character and sculptural presence.
