In this composition, small module terracotta pieces are combined with pale travertine and dense black stone, forming a rhythmic geometric field of squares, diamonds and triangular inserts. The warmth of the clay is heightened by the cool chalky cream of travertine and grounded by the weight of black stone, creating a floor that feels both historic and quietly dramatic.
The subtle irregularity of the modules, the softened arrises, and the naturally varied firing marks give the surface an antique sensibility. Occasional flecks, iron spotting and tonal shifts are not flaws but the very signature of the woodfired process.
Construction
Hand-shaped terracotta modules fired in wood-burning kilns, combined with travertine, black stone or glazed terracotta elements.
Formats
Squares, diamonds, triangles, hexagons, octagons, Hungarian point, herringbone strips and bespoke geometric layouts.
Each installation is assembled by hand, ensuring that no two floors are ever identical. The result is a surface that feels excavated rather than installed - rich, time-worn and deeply architectural.
