Woodfired Terracotta – Petalo con Cabochon
A more elaborate evolution of the Mimbre geometry, this composition introduces elongated terracotta “petals” arranged in a quatrefoil formation, anchored by pale cabochons at the intersections. The rhythm is floral yet architectural – structured, but softened by the curves of the petal form.

Each module is woodfired in traditional arabesque kilns, producing a spectrum of tones from pale parchment and warm almond to soft apricot and toasted clay. Subtle smoke markings, flecks and edge darkening reveal the authenticity of the firing process. The pale stone cabochons – chalky, almost in character – provide tonal relief and sharpen the geometry.

The dark grout outlines every curve and , heightening the contrast and giving the pattern clarity and depth. The result is a surface that feels historic yet composed, reminiscent of cloister floors and Mediterranean courtyards where terracotta and stone were married with quiet intelligence.

Construction
Hand-shaped terracotta petals paired with light stone cabochons, woodfired for natural variation.

Finish
Soft matte surface with kiln-induced tonal shifts and time-worn character.

A pattern of movement and balance – organic curves disciplined by geometry, warmth framed by light stone precision.
