A hand painted terracotta tile with bold cobalt scrollwork, designed to bring classical movement and saturated colour onto the warmth of fired clay.

This tile pairs a rich terracotta ground with sweeping, baroque -style scroll motifs painted in deep cobalt blue. The contrast is strong but timeless: warm clay tones set against crisp, saturated pigment that reads graphic at distance and beautifully textured up close.

Part of De Ferranti’s Painted Clay Series, the pattern can be applied by hand painting or stencilling, using natural pigments for a softer, chalkier, timeworn effect, or executed in glaze and fired for a more durable, colour-fast finish with subtle depth.

Suitable for floors and walls, it works well as a repeat field, framed panels, borders and inserts, or as a decorative “carpet” within plain terracotta field tiles. As with all hand finished clay, expect gentle variation in tone and brushwork that keeps the surface alive.
