Designer-maker Rima Patel describes these tiles as “stone carpets” – and the name is apt. The pattern flows seamlessly across modules, dissolving the boundaries between tiles. Inspired by the faded grandeur of antique textiles and time-worn rugs, the collection favours geometrics and loosely interpreted florals that feel relaxed rather than rigid. The motifs are versatile and modular – a pattern can be made from a pattern, arranged, rotated and repeated to create entirely new compositions.
Edges are intentionally softened, surfaces subtly irregular, and the sits within the micro-texture of the volcanic stone, producing a depth that machines cannot replicate. The result is tactile, architectural and quietly dramatic.
Several patterns are available within the series, and custom commissions are welcomed, allowing scale, motif and tonality to be tailored to project.
A surface that feels discovered rather than manufactured – timeless, textural and richly atmospheric.
