Suffolk pammets are a staple of English vernacular interiors, originally produced for hardworking farmhouses and country buildings where floors needed to take decades of wear. This reclaimed selection combines tiles made from iron-rich red clay with darker black clay pammets, giving the floor its distinctive two-tone rhythm without relying on surface staining or modern colouring.
Expect the signatures of age: softened edges, slight surface undulation, small chips, kiln marks and tonal drift across both colours. The red clay tiles bring fired-earth warmth, while the black clay tiles add weight and contrast, often showing subtle smoke and soot-like character developed over time.
Ideal for kitchens, entrance halls, boot rooms, sculleries, utility spaces and heritage-led commercial settings. As a reclaimed material, batches vary and supply is limited, so blending and grading are part of achieving the right balance of red-to-black and an even overall flow.
