Neisha Crosland
Kingfisher Pietre Dure Panel
A museum-quality composition depicting a kingfisher in full colour and lifelike detail. Built from thousands of tiny hand-cut stone fragments, this is hardstone inlay at its most refined.

This panel is crafted using the classical tradition, where contrasting marbles, hardstones and semi-precious materials are inlaid into a stone ground and finished perfectly flush. The kingfisher’s plumage is rendered with extraordinary precision, using minute to capture feather direction, tonal shifts, and the natural sheen of the bird’s cobalt and colouring.

Every element is composed as if it were paint, but achieved entirely through stone selection and cut. The result is a surface that feels both jewel-like and architectural, with depth that reveals itself at close range.

Made to special commission in bespoke sizes, this work can be produced as framed wall art, integrated into wall panelling, used as a feature insert within a larger stone scheme, or adapted for furniture fronts and decorative objects. Suitable for interiors where true craftsmanship and permanence matter.
