This circular Opus Sectile medallion combines deep volcanic stone with a refined palette of old world marbles from Siena, Carrara, Laguna, Connemara and beyond. The dark ground provides dramatic contrast, allowing the delicate floral motifs to appear almost suspended within the surface.

Golden blossoms, pale petals and soft green leaves are shaped from carefully selected marbles, each chosen for its natural veining and tonal richness. The volcanic base introduces texture and depth rarely seen in traditional Opus Sectile work, where polished marbles are more typical.

Each element is individually cut and interlocked by hand, forming a seamless composition that balances sculptural precision with painterly movement.
