Rooted in the Cosmati tradition of medieval Roman inlay, this piece is built around a crisp four-point motif, where curved Verde Antico segments form a pinwheel geometry against a warm, time-softened ground. The palette is unmistakably classical: imperial red porphyry, deep green serpentine, and honeyed Giallo Antico , framed by a rich, textured border.

The distressed finish enhances the sense of authenticity, bringing gentle wear, softened edges, and tonal variation that make the cabochon feel like an architectural fragment rather than a new fabrication.
