Cosmati Border Polychrome Quadratura (mod A.54710010A)
This handcrafted border is a disciplined study in contrast, proportion, and dialogue. Crisp white squares anchor the composition, while tightly cut triangular inserts in verde antico, giallo, terracotta-orange, and deep porphyry red create a rhythmic, almost tessellated movement across the length of the piece.

Each triangle is carefully paired to form subtle pinwheel and quartered motifs, producing a visual pulse that alternates between calm geometry and dynamic fragmentation. The greens range from dark forest to olive with soft veining, while the yellows carry faint calcite and warm, honeyed undertones. The reds shift between brick and wine, with granular textures that catch the light differently from the smoother marbles beside them.

The finish is refined yet not overly polished, allowing the natural grain and crystalline structure of each stone to remain visible. Micro-variations in tone and density ensure that no two repetitions are ever perfectly identical – the quiet signature of the artisan’s hand.

Designed for floors, thresholds, stair nosings, wall friezes, or banding, this border exemplifies classical Roman geometry translated into project-ready work. It is not simply decorative; it is architectural punctuation – a measured interplay of colour, stone, and proportion rooted in centuries of tradition.
