At De Ferranti, each basin is conceived as an object of art, where rare materials, decorative skill and craftsmanship converge. Our basins are created in an exceptional range of materials, from rare and unusual marbles to richly veined and hand-carved natural stone. We also work with crystal, and other precious substrates, transforming them into luminous vessels that capture and refract light.

Concha sits within our ceramic direction - a basin that introduces colour and painterly expression through a fully hand-made process. The form is moulded with scalloped edges and a gentle, spiralling basin profile that draws water toward the waste like a tide line. The glaze is layered to create watery blue tones with subtle movement, sealed beneath a durable vitrified surface.
Each ceramic basin is carefully moulded, entirely hand-painted and then glazed before being fired at approximately 1200°C, locking the decoration beneath the glaze for lasting performance. Beneath the basin, conical shell forms are moulded into the underside, adding tactile relief and turning the piece into a sculptural object from every angle - not just from above.
In addition to new commissions, we source and reclaim historic basins, sometimes centuries old, restoring and reinterpreting them for contemporary settings while preserving their provenance and character. Minimal or richly ornamented, contemporary or classical, every basin is a bespoke statement in material and artistry.
