Part of De Ferranti’s Hide Collection, this border element is made from English saddlery leather, cut to shape and hand dyed to a rich chocolate tone. The surface is then hand finished to create a subtle antiqued , with the leather’s natural grain and tonal movement left visible. A brogue-inspired edge detail adds a refined graphic line, echoing traditional shoemaking and leatherworking techniques.
Mounted to a stable marine ply base, the tile is designed for interior floors and walls, and works especially well as a perimeter border or tramline to define herringbone, parquet and panelled layouts. It can also be used as a transition detail between leather fields and other materials, including stone, and timber.
As a natural material, variation in tone and grain is expected and is central to the finished effect. Custom colours and border proportions can be produced to order for bespoke schemes.
