The field is formed from black limestone , cut and assembled in opus sectile to create a subtle radial backdrop. Into this dark ground, cast brass rings and a central ox motif are precisely inlaid, forming a powerful graphic contrast between matte stone and luminous metal .

The brass elements are sand cast using traditional methods, giving them a slight organic irregularity and tactile depth that cannot be achieved through modern machining. This process imparts character to the surface, allowing the metal to retain a handcrafted authenticity.

Each component is set into recessed channels within the stone and ground flush, ensuring a seamless integration of materials.
