Embossed Arabesque Tile – Bronzed Brass
Embossed & repoussé relief work is the ancient art of hammering out or pressing thin from the reverse side to produce designs in raised relief. The technique has been used for centuries across cultures to create surfaces with depth, rhythm and a tactile richness that flat simply cannot achieve.

The limitless potential of this craft is well illustrated by the fact that both the of Liberty and Classical Greek armour were produced using repoussé work. Today, working to special commission, De Ferranti applies this tradition to refined architectural surfaces - producing raised relief elements for doors, coffered ceilings, mirror surrounds and decorative panels for cabinetry.

This particular tile features a repeating arabesque and floral motif, embossed into brass and finished with a warm bronzed that darkens the recesses and lifts the high points. The result is a surface that catches and softens light, reading as aged metalwork with a quiet sense of ornament.

Advancing the concept further, embossed can also be paired with stone to create unique tiles, borders and bespoke compositions where relief becomes part of the wider architectural language.
