Neisha Crosland
Diagonal Relief Tile Africa D
This tile is defined by diagonal movement - intersecting planes, scored diamonds, and crescent-like incisions that create a layered, tactile composition. Angular forms are softened by rhythmic curved detailing, while textured bands introduce contrast and depth across the surface.

Dynamic geometry carved into clay.

The design feels both primitive and sophisticated. No two lines are identical; each is hand-scribed into the clay using simple tools before firing. This slight irregularity gives the tile its authenticity - a quiet reminder of the human hand behind every piece.

Fired according to traditional Tierra Negra methods, the surface develops the collection’s distinctive black satin finish. Rich undertones of deep brown and charcoal shift subtly with the light, enhancing the carved relief and giving the tile a warm, almost metallic glow.

Rooted in a centuries-old pottery tradition, this piece transforms ancestral craft into architectural expression.

Ancient technique.
Contemporary geometry.
Clay with character.
