Marjory Clinton Black Gold Reduction Lustre Tile (183D)
From our personal archives, this reduction lustre tile by Marjory Clinton is a dark, -rich surface with fine black-gold scintillation, created through an oxygen-reduced second firing that fuses metallic lustre into the glaze rather than laying it on top.

At first glance it reads almost black, then the light hits and the whole face starts to lift - a dense field of micro-sparkle with -gold undertones and subtle areas of pooling that suggest movement under the surface.

Small pale flecks and edge irregularities give it that unmistakable handmade authority, like a fragment recovered from an older wall, re-presented as an object of study.

Ideal as a singular accent tile, framed panel, or niche focal point where the finish can be appreciated up close. Displayed as a homage to Marjory Clinton and the reduction lustre craft she championed.
