Snake Mosaic in Black Grey Tuff
Inspired by a late eleventh century floor at Sant’Adriano, San Demetrio Corone in Cosenza, this serpent composition coils around itself in an eternal, protective gesture, delicately inlaid into black grey tuff.

Serpente Antico Panel is a faithful interpretation of a historic Italian ecclesiastical floor, where a serpent wraps around itself in rhythmic movement, symbolising continuity and renewal. The figure is composed of small triangular in contrasting marbles, carefully set to create texture, pattern and subtle tonal variation.

The is inlaid into black grey tuff, a volcanic stone whose quiet, matte surface provides a powerful counterpoint to the intricate geometry of the . The contrast between the dark ground and the lighter patterned serpent heightens the visual clarity of the design while retaining an aged, archaeological character.

Each panel is produced using traditional techniques, with individual pieces hand cut and set before being finished flush with the surrounding stone. Suitable for floors, courtyards, cloisters or feature installations, Serpente Antico can be scaled and adapted for bespoke architectural projects.
