The resulting stencilled pattern has an angular, rotational quality, with a simple source motif becoming much less obvious once several modules are joined.

Kaleidoscope Limestone Tile From a Diagonal Step

The design rewards viewing at two distances. Close up, individual diagonal steps remain visible; from farther away they combine into larger geometric figures that appear to turn across the floor or wall. Matchsticks uses simpler linear formations, while Cocteau replaces angular rotation with curving ironwork-inspired lines. Radar is the more optical of the three, making it especially useful where pattern itself is intended to become a principal visual element.

Aligning a Rotational Repeat

Because the kaleidoscope limestone tile creates secondary shapes across tile joints, layout should be tested over a sufficiently large area before fixing. Mark the centreline of the room or wall and check whether the strongest composite motif should sit on that axis or slightly off it. At thresholds, avoid accidental half-forms where a small shift could preserve the repeat more successfully.
