This axehead mother of pearl mosaic is formed from precisely cut white Mother of Pearl pieces that interlock into a flowing repeat of curves and hourglass forms. Soft geometry and natural iridescence give the surface structure without making it feel rigid, with each piece catching light differently.
The pattern can read as interlinking petals, a softened chain or a sequence of opposing axehead shapes depending on the viewing distance. White Mother of Pearl moves through milky white, pale silver and occasional champagne warmth, so the repeat remains quiet while still showing material variation. The axehead mother of pearl mosaic is well suited to interior walling, niches, splashbacks, vanity cladding, feature panels and decorative inserts where a shaped repeat is wanted without strong colour contrast.
The white Mother of Pearl and abalone version introduces vivid oceanic banding, while the white Mother of Pearl and coconut shell version creates a dark graphic contrast. For wider pattern and material references, explore De Ferranti’s Mosaics – All Disciplines collection.
The mosaic is supplied as mesh-backed sheets for ease of installation, with size, backing and finish options tailored to the project. Before setting out a larger field, review sheet joins, edge cuts and transitions around corners or fittings so the axehead rhythm remains intentional. A sample should also be viewed in the intended light, as white nacre can move from soft cream to cool silver. Pairing it with pale marble, brushed metal or darker joinery can alter how strongly the geometry is perceived.
