The design is inspired by the Michelangelesque decorative language of the Laurentian Library in Florence, translating that historic geometric sensibility into a floor surface with strong contrast between warm clay and darker volcanic material. Arpie uses the essential opus sectile principle of shaping larger pieces to fit the geometry of the composition.
