This Roman diamond mosaic is a beautiful rendition of an old Roman mosaic pavement. Each stone is carefully selected, cut and then assembled by hand. The slight indentations in the mosaic field enhance the beauty of this mosaic despite its simplicity. The diamonds seem to float over the beautifully handcrafted background mosaic field. Of particular interest is the construction of the small tesserae: their randomness accentuates its charm. Only the discerning eye would pick this up, a small detail with maximum impact. As is the case with all the De Ferranti Mosaic collections, we are able to fully customise the materials and colours and tailor the mosaics to your space, creating unique and personalised pieces.
The ordered diamond motifs are deliberately set against a less regular background, creating tension between geometric repetition and the hand-cut character of the field. Small changes in tessera size, alignment and tone prevent the surface from reading as mechanically perfect. Urbino offers a more abstract Roman-inspired composition, while Ottagono con Diamanti Mosaic provides another diamond-led geometry. The Mediterranean Mosaics collection gives further context for classical mosaic work, and Stone & Marble Mosaics broadens the choice of field and border designs.
For a Roman diamond mosaic, establish centre lines and complete repeats before fixing so the floating diamonds remain evenly distributed at thresholds and perimeters. Review grout with the tessera palette and dry lay adjoining sheets to blend the random background. The product is listed for bathrooms, flooring, kitchens, leisure interiors, residential interiors, restaurants, swimming pools, tabletops, walling and warm-climate exterior use. Final substrate preparation, sealing, slip requirements and exposure conditions should still be checked for the particular project.
