Mosaic Border Trompe l’Oeil (mod A.54740004B)

This Roman geometric mosaic border is based on a fourth-century AD pattern from the Villa del Tellaro, Noto, near Syracuse. It belongs to De Ferranti’s museum-quality stone and marble mosaic collection, custom-made for floors, walls, panels, tableaus, borders, and fine architectural detailing. Best supplied and fitted by our own artisans for a seamless, enduring finish. Each piece in this collection is handcrafted in natural stone and marble to suit your project precisely, from statement floor fields and wall installations to framed panels, tableaus, borders, inserts, and intricate junction detailing. We work to your drawings, dimensions, colour direction, and material preferences, engineering every composition for longevity, clarity of line, and a truly museum-quality level of finish. For the most accurate result, these mosaics are ideally supplied and fitted by our specialist artisans, ensuring alignment, transitions, and final polishing are executed exactly as intended.

Roman Geometric Mosaic Border and Trompe l’Oeil Rhythm

The Villa del Tellaro mosaics belong to the rich late Roman pavement tradition of south-eastern Sicily, where geometric and figurative compositions were used together. Here, the historic reference is concentrated into a border format that can structure a room without requiring a full archaeological-style field. Mosaic Border Trompe L’oeil (mod A.54740004A) is the closely related companion design. Monochromatico Fascia Ritmica offers a quieter rhythmic alternative.

Corners, Curves and Historical Geometry

For a Roman geometric mosaic border, set out complete repeats before fixing and resolve every corner or return on drawings. Where the design is used around columns, templates should establish circumference and junctions so the geometry remains legible. Sample the border with grout and adjoining stone, then confirm fixing, sealing and slip requirements for the intended setting. Swimming-pool and warm-climate exterior use should be reviewed against project-specific substrate, exposure and maintenance conditions before installation.
