Each stone is carefully selected, cut and then assembled by hand. The slight indentations in the mosaic field, enhance the beauty of this mosaic despite its simplicity. The jet black tramline border connects with the checkered black tesserae in the Cross Motif causing a subtle contrast against the warm red. Of particular interest is the direction of the small tesserae, they contra flow either side of the border. Only the discerning eye would pick this up, a small detail with maximum impact.
