This gold diagonal mosaic from De Ferranti’s Bardo Collection uses warm honeyed limestone and pale cream tesserae set on a rotated axis. With a sophisticated matt finish, the collection offers a modern take on ancient Roman mosaic craft, while the almost chalky surface leaves the stone’s amber veining and mineral markings clearly visible.
The Bardo Collection is available in a variety of sizes, colours and designs, including stripes, florals and other geometric patterns. Diagonal Squares in gold is one of the warmer interpretations, with the repeated cream and ochre pieces forming a lively but controlled all-over field.
The Diagonal Squares in beige version is quieter and more taupe, while Dancing Squares in yellow uses a related warm palette at a larger nested-square scale. De Ferranti’s Limestone Collection is useful when comparing adjoining larger-format stone and establishing a coherent cream, straw and honey palette.
Because the gold diagonal mosaic contains conspicuous natural veining, the finished field should not be judged from a single tessera or one small sample. Review several pieces together so the balance of pale stone, amber markings and stronger brown lines is understood. The diagonal repeat also creates directional movement, so establish axes and perimeter cuts before installation. A pale grout can merge the joints into the overall field, while slightly deeper grout gives more definition to each rotated square. Recorded applications include bathrooms, commercial interiors, flooring, kitchens, residential interiors, restaurants, internal walling and tile applications. Exterior use is not listed and should be confirmed separately if required.
