This antique stone star mosaic forms a shimmering field of interlocking stars cut from authentic antique Jerusalem stone, often known as Biblical stone. Re-cut from reclaimed Jerusalem stone floors, it carries genuine patina and natural variation that only time can produce. Softened edges, subtle pitting, mineral speckling and gentle tonal shifts move across the surface. Small angular pieces lock together like a stone tapestry, with parchment, cream, honeyed ochre and sandy beige tones joined by occasional rusty clay accents. Fine pale joints trace the geometry and give the star points a lace-like clarity.
Although the repeat is intricate, the aged material softens its graphic effect. No two areas read identically because the reclaimed tesserae retain variations in surface and colour. The antique stone star mosaic therefore works particularly well where a project calls for pattern with provenance rather than the visual regularity of newly cut decorative tile.
For a rounded companion pattern, see the Antique Jerusalem Stone – Rosette Lattice Mosaic. The material can also be considered alongside De Ferranti’s Antique Stone Mosaics and the wider Stone & Marble Mosaics collection.
Review samples for the range of limestone colour, patina and edge softness, then establish the star lattice from the room’s principal axis. Thresholds, perimeter cuts and junctions with other floor finishes should be resolved before installation. For swimming pools or warm-climate exterior areas, confirm the intended build-up, substrate and site conditions with De Ferranti before specification.
