The Rosellina red terracotta tile sets off-white floral and corner-rose geometry against a strong hand-painted red ground. Made in a Southern Italian artisan studio, it is identified as a Sicilian design of 19th-century character. The limited two-colour arrangement gives the ornament immediate clarity, while the handmade surface keeps the broad repeat from becoming flat or overly regular.

Rosellina’s pale floral forms connect through the corners of neighbouring modules, allowing a larger field to emerge across the installation. The red background varies subtly in tone and brush density, and small shifts in the off-white linework reveal the individual hand of the painter. These differences are part of the material’s character and should be distributed rather than removed during setting out.

Within the family, Rosellina Green and Red uses red as a smaller accent against green, while Rosellina Black and Red creates a darker and more dramatic variation. This red Italian tile can provide the principal decorative surface in kitchens, bathrooms, entrance areas, restaurants, staircases and fireplace settings. It may also be considered for swimming-pool areas and selected exterior use in warm climates, subject to material and installation requirements. A sample panel should be assessed beside the intended grout, stone, timber, plaster or metal finishes. Careful setting out is especially important where the pattern meets thresholds, corners or fixed joinery.
