The Rosellina midnight blue tile develops the family’s floral geometry through a richer polychrome palette of blue, rose, yellow, red and off-white. Painted by hand in a Southern Italian artisan studio, it is identified as Sicilian in origin and 19th century in character. The dark blue presence gives the ornament visual depth while the lighter and warmer details keep the repeat animated.

Unlike Rosellina colourways built around one dominant ground and pale decoration, this version distributes several colours through the floral geometric composition. Repeated corner and foliate elements connect from tile to tile, creating a broad patterned field. Hand-painted changes in line, pigment density and registration remain visible, allowing the finished surface to retain the energy of individual brushwork.

Within the collection, Rosellina Lilac offers a quieter cool-toned alternative, while Rosellina Black and Red uses a darker field with a more restricted accent palette. Elsewhere at De Ferranti, Midnight Delft MC27 provides a handmade plain blue glaze for surrounding fields or contrasting areas, and the Cobalt Blossom Arabesque explores blue floral geometry through an Islamic ceramic reference.

This polychrome Sicilian terracotta may be considered for floors, walls, kitchens, bathrooms, restaurants and decorative panels, with warm-climate exterior use subject to project specification. The repeating composition should be dry-laid before fixing so corner connections remain clear and the colours are evenly distributed.
