Medievale Grande – Pavimenti Marble Floor

Medievale Grande – Pavimenti Marble Floor, a Medievale Grande floor, is inspired by the marble floors of Chiesa di Sant’Anastasia in Verona (c. 1462), Medievale Grande is the bold, large-scale expression of this historic pavement – designed to read with clarity and authority across wider architectural spaces. Medievale Grande combines Black Marble, Rosso Verona, and White Pietra di Prun in an expanded repeat where the geometry has more breathing room and stronger rhythm. Black quatrefoil forms anchor the field with confident contrast, while Rosso Verona diamond accents punctuate the intersections, adding warmth and a measured cadence. White Pietra di Prun provides the luminous ground, allowing the pattern to remain crisp and legible even at distance.

Medievale Grande Floor in Detail

Medievale Grande – Pavimenti Marble Floor relies on measured repetition and material contrast rather than surface ornament added afterwards. Each cut stone or terracotta element contributes to the larger geometry, and changes in tone can either sharpen or soften the optical effect. The pattern should therefore be reviewed at room scale as well as at sample scale before quantities and borders are finalised.

To compare nearby approaches, review Medievale Piccolo – Pavimenti Marble Floor alongside Harlequin Pinwheel Marble Pavement. The broader Geometrics, Patterns & Combinations brings these pieces together as part of De Ferranti’s pavement archive, useful when developing a floor hierarchy from field material to border, threshold and feature panel.

Layout, Samples and Specification

The recorded applications include flooring, bathrooms, residential and warm-climate exterior areas. For the Medievale Grande floor, establish pattern direction, perimeter cuts and any framing border before the main field is laid. Grout tone and joint width can materially change how strongly the geometry reads. Where natural stone is used, representative samples should be reviewed for veining, fill, tonal range and finish.
