The Jacob’s Tree design is based on abstract magnolia flowers grafted onto a Tree of Life. Its influences include Jacobean embroidery, copper-plate etched illustration from an old fairy tale book and Paul Poiret, giving the tile a layered decorative language without making it feel like a period reproduction.

In Ming Blue, the motif has a clearer, more graphic presence than the softer Catkin or Celadon colourways.
