The Leonarda saffron terracotta tile is hand-painted in a Southern Italian artisan studio with shades of white arranged over a saffron background. Both the coloured ground and terracotta body have been delicately aged, ensuring that every tile varies slightly. De Ferranti identifies the four-tile repeat as Sicilian in origin and 18th century in character.

Saffron brings warmth without the deeper weight of a red field. Pale scrolling ornament and geometric details extend across four modules to create the complete symmetrical composition. Hand-applied colour, softened edges and gentle changes in the aged ground give the repeated surface depth and prevent it from feeling uniformly manufactured.

Assunta Saffron offers a different ornate Sicilian composition in related warm tones, while Leonarda Red and White shows the same repeat with greater colour depth. Elsewhere at De Ferranti, Neisha Crosland's Marigold in Imperial Yellow provides a contemporary floral companion, and Can-Can in Primrose introduces a lighter botanical rhythm on handmade terracotta.

Leonarda Saffron can be used to bring a sunlit decorative field to kitchens, bathrooms, entrance halls, staircases, fireplace surrounds and hospitality interiors. Warm-climate exterior use may be considered subject to specification. Its four-tile motif should be set out before fixing so that complete centres and transitions remain controlled. Samples are important for judging saffron variation, ageing and grout colour beside surrounding stone, plaster, timber or metal. Blend tiles across the installation rather than grouping similar tones. Confirm format, thickness, substrate and suitability for the intended floor, wall or wet-area application before ordering.
