The Hector Art Nouveau tile forms part of De Ferranti’s Art Nouveau Collection of handpainted ceramic panels.

In the spirit of reviving historical decorative movements, our Art Nouveau Collection comprises 8 handpainted 49 cm square ceramic panels of sixteen 11cm square tiles in vivid shades or orange, yellow and green.

Hector Art Nouveau Tile Design

Hector is dominated by sweeping rust-red forms arranged around circular and crescent-like details outlined in olive green. Fine crackle lines remain visible across the white areas, introducing surface movement between the stronger painted passages. The colour is applied with slight tonal variation, retaining the character of the painted hand rather than the uniformity of a printed repeat.

Within the individual tile, the red shapes appear to turn around a series of open centres. When the pieces are assembled, these rotating forms continue across the joints to produce an energetic pattern of spirals, arcs and interlocking arabesques. The white ground prevents the composition from becoming visually dense, while the restrained green accents help define the circular structure.

The name Hector evokes Hector Guimard, whose entrances for the Paris Métro became defining expressions of Art Nouveau design. The tile’s curved contours and sense of continuous motion recall the movement’s characteristic whiplash line without reproducing a specific historical motif. This makes Hector suitable for interiors that require a clear period reference as well as schemes where expressive colour and abstract pattern are the primary considerations.

Hand-Painted Ceramic Panel for Interior Walls

The Hector Art Nouveau tile is intended for decorative internal wall applications, including bathrooms, residential interiors, restaurants and commercial settings. The complete panel can be used as a framed feature, repeated across a broader wall or coordinated with plain ceramics and complementary surface materials.

As the composition is created from sixteen individual pieces, the full sequence should be reviewed before installation. A dry layout or project mock-up can confirm the orientation of the tiles, the continuity of the curved forms and the relationship between the panel and adjoining surfaces. Joint width, grout colour and perimeter treatment should be considered as integral parts of the design.
