Moss Crystalline ceramic tile has an olive-green glaze with pale crystalline speckling distributed across its surface. The finish combines a mossy ground with lighter granular movement, producing a tactile-looking glaze that changes subtly between the centre and the edges.
Its softened perimeter and visible kiln variation reinforce the individually made character of the tile. The granular light points soften the olive ground and give the glaze a mineral quality that is best judged from a physical sample rather than a screen.
The Moss Crystalline ceramic tile is best assessed through a close-view sample under the directional and ambient lighting proposed for the project. The crystalline effect makes it a natural candidate for feature areas where the glaze can be viewed closely and allowed to respond to directional light. Directional and grazing light will emphasise the glaze response, while flatter illumination will make the colour read more continuously.
Within the Alvaro Afonso Atelier collection, this reactive green finish offers a more visually active alternative to the smoother field glazes. It can coordinate with stone, timber, metalwork, sanitaryware or adjacent plain ceramic tiles while remaining the principal material statement.
The supplied sources do not publish cleaning, slip, absorption or exterior-performance data for this textured finish. Areas exposed to grease, soap residue, hard-water deposits or frequent cleaning should therefore be tested with a sample and an agreed maintenance method. A batch mock-up should establish joint width, colour distribution and the balance of crystalline variation across the surface.
Wet, floor, exterior and submerged uses require written project-specific confirmation rather than assumption. Exact dimensions and thickness should also be confirmed with De Ferranti before drawings, quantities and setting-out are finalised.
A representative panel can also help confirm grout tone before installation begins.
As Moss Crystalline is currently the only published finish in The Greens Textures group, related tones within The Greens family include Forest Moss, Olive Grove, Spring Verdure, Weathered Sage and Golden Citron.
The Moss Crystalline ceramic tile can be paired with these smoother green glazes on adjoining surfaces or within a composed installation, creating contrast between crystalline movement and quieter tonal fields without relying on a mix.
