For this jewel teardrop border, the rich green of Ireland and Celtic symbols were the underlyinmg inspiration. This unique border is fashioned from carefully selected tones of Connemara Marble and precious accent teardrops, over a cement base ensuring that the border is not only stable and sound, but also easy to install. Totally handcut, hand assembled, a truly handmade product. No border is the same, as the artist’s hand is vital in creating natural nuances within each interlocking piece. Connemara Marble is a serpentine-rich rock, popular since ancient times as a decorative facing stone. With its ‘forty shades of green’ and its wild patterns, it represents perfectly the landscapes of the Emerald Isle. Connemara Marble inspired artists, architects and artisans throughout the world. Thicknesses can be 1cm or 2cm or to order, as can the border widths and material combinations. All the De Ferranti borders are fully customisable.
Emerald Isle Border 2 has a refined, elongated composition, with variegated green marble framed by pale linear edging and set with oval jewel-like accents. The red and blue-purple teardrops bring measured colour into the stone field, giving the border a decorative rhythm that remains calm and controlled.
This jewel teardrop border is suited to projects where a stone floor or wall detail needs colour, inlay character and a sense of craft without becoming overly ornate. It can be used to define a threshold, frame a feature floor, edge a fireplace surround or introduce a tailored border into an interior surface scheme, subject to specification and installation method.
Within the wider De Ferranti border collection, Emerald Isle Border 2 sits naturally alongside other handcut decorative stone borders. Designers considering related material language may also wish to explore decorative inlay surfaces and the Connemara Green Feature Mosaic.
