Terracotta inlay border, the Dulcia Border creates a warm decorative frame around a floor, wall or feature surface, using the contrast between Pietra Nera and Yellow Leathery Terracotta to give the design depth, rhythm and character.

This unique border is fashioned from Pietra Nera and Yellow Leathery Terracotta over a cement base, ensuring that the border is stable, sound and easier to install. Totally hand-cut and hand assembled, it is a truly handmade product. No border is exactly the same, as the artist’s hand is vital in creating natural nuance within each interlocking piece.

Thicknesses can be 1 cm or 2 cm, or made to order, as can the border widths and material combinations. All De Ferranti borders are fully customisable.

The design combines a warm ochre terracotta field with dark triangular and scroll-like forms, creating a repeating pattern that feels classical, balanced and quietly decorative. The contrast is strong enough to define a border clearly, while the hand-cut material keeps the surface softer and more crafted than a purely graphic treatment.

This terracotta inlay border can be used to frame a floor, mark a threshold, enrich a fireplace surround, create a decorative wall band, or introduce a more personal line within kitchens, bathrooms, restaurants, residential interiors and leisure spaces, subject to specification. Where suitable, it may also be considered for external use in warm climates.
