Our Geometric mosaic border, is crafted in richly toned marble. Warm terracotta, soft limestone and deep charcoal combine to create a striking three-dimensional cube effect, a style popular in the 1980s and now enjoying a confident revival.
Inspired by the historic Cosmati tradition, this border reinterprets classical geometry using modern, readily available materials. The interplay of colour and faceted form introduces depth and movement, transforming a simple floor into a stronger design statement.
Ideal as a feature strip or perimeter frame, it works beautifully with marble, stone or timber fields, creating definition and visual rhythm within a space. The current finish is antiqued.
The appeal of this geometric mosaic border lies in its repeated diamond and hourglass rhythm. Pale stone sections sit between warmer red and salmon-toned pieces, while small rectangular tesserae create a more textured outer line. The result is ordered, graphic and subtly timeworn, with enough contrast to define a perimeter without overwhelming the surrounding surface.
This border can be used around a floor, along a wall, across a threshold, around a central field or as a decorative strip within bathrooms, restaurants, residential interiors, churches, leisure spaces and swimming pool settings, subject to specification.
This product belongs to De Ferranti’s Borders – Various Disciplines collection, where stone, marble, metal, mosaic and specialist inlay borders can be tailored for project use. Its classical geometry connects naturally with Cosmati – Sacred Geometry in Coloured Stone & Smalti, Stone & Marble Mosaics and Pavements, Pavimenti & Flooring.
