The Axe head border product lets the colours of Pompeii, coupled with black stone, enhance an interior setting and mood. This unique contrasting Axe Head border is fashioned from Burnt Umber Sandstone and polished black marble. As these borders are gently ground and polished by hand, there is a gentle surface undulation impossible to reproduce by machine.

Supplied over a stone base, the border is stable, sound and easier to install. Totally hand-cut and hand assembled, it is a truly handmade product. No border is exactly the same, as the artist’s hand is vital in creating natural nuances within each unique piece.

Thicknesses can be 2 cm or made to order, as can the border widths and material combinations. All De Ferranti borders are fully customisable.

Axe Head Border for Geometric Stone Detail

The axe head border pattern has a strong graphic rhythm. Repeating black crescent forms interlock with burnt red and terracotta-toned stone, creating a bold tessellated surface that feels ancient, decorative and highly structured. The design can be used to frame a floor, define a threshold, create a perimeter line, or add a distinctive band within a wall or surface scheme.

Its contrast makes it especially useful where a project needs a border with clarity and presence. The black stone elements give the design weight, while the warm sandstone ground brings a more Mediterranean character, suited to richly layered residential, hospitality and leisure interiors.
