Bone and horn inlay is a traditional craft practiced throughout the Middle East and India. De Ferranti works with an historic Indian workshop to develop these decorative inlaid panels and briquettes. These beautiful, and surprisingly hardwearing materials, are suitable for low traffic floors (bathrooms), as a field material or as borders, for walls and as detailing in furniture.

Bone Brickbond Tiles with Subtle Tonal Variation

These bone brickbond tiles are arranged in a slim running-bond layout, giving the surface a quiet rhythm rather than an overtly ornamental pattern. The narrow rectangular pieces create a refined linear field, while the natural variation within the pale bone gives each section its own warmth, softness and tonal movement.

The design is especially useful where a project needs a pale decorative surface with more depth than a plain tile. Fine joints, small shifts in colour and the hand-worked character of the briquettes prevent the surface from feeling flat or uniform. Used across a wall, inset panel, cabinet front or border, Bone Briquette in a slim Brickbond gives a space a discreet but highly crafted material detail.

Design Use and Commissioning

Bone Brickbond Tiles can be considered for walls, furniture detailing, borders, screens and selected low-traffic interior floors, subject to specification and expected wear. They are particularly suited to powder rooms, bathroom features, dressing rooms, bespoke cabinetry, decorative doors and intimate residential or hospitality interiors where tactility and material character matter.
