Gas firing produces a denser, more technically robust terracotta than many wood-fired alternatives, with reliable consistency and frost resistance when correctly specified and installed. The surface retains the natural character of handmade clay, with gentle tonal drift and subtle texture that keeps the chequer from feeling too sharp or synthetic.
Ideal for kitchens, entrance halls, utility spaces and dining rooms, where a traditional pattern is wanted but with a clean, architectural read. As with all handmade terracotta, expect variation tile to tile, which adds depth and a more authentic, lived-in finish once laid.
