White MOP – Classic Brick Format
White is the purest expression of . Subtle, luminous and quietly luxurious, it carries a natural translucency that shifts gently between soft ivory, mist grey, pale silver and faint blush undertones depending on the light. Cut into a refined brick format (3 × 4.8 cm), each piece reveals the characteristic swirling growth lines of the shell – concentric waves that catch and refract light differently across every tile. No two pieces are identical. Some read cool and silvery, others warmer with hints of cream and pearlised champagne. This constant variation is not a flaw, but the essence of the material.

is composed of approximately 95 percent calcium carbonate. Its iridescence has made it prized for centuries in jewellery, ornament and fine inlay work. As a natural material, correct treatment from the outset is essential to preserve its appearance over time.

The surface is protected with a thin polyurethane top coat. While natural shells are completely waterproof and unaffected by water contact, they can be damaged by acids such as vinegar, wine, champagne, lemon juice and harsh acid-based cleaners.

All our mosaics are made using shell species that are not protected under the Washington Convention and are not treated with oils derived from cetaceans.

Many designs are exclusive to Studio Vega and developed from our own concepts, including D-MOP bath accessories, washbasins, door handles and bespoke inlay formats.
